This means you will be work-ready on completion of your studies. New developments in 2012, see a new specialisation in Financial Planning introduced. If you would like to undertake the Bachelor of Accounting (Financial Planning) you will complete both accounting specialist and financial planning specialist courses. This new specialistion will provide you with enhanced career opportunities and extensive knowledge in both areas.
This program is accredited with CPA Australia, the Institute if Chartered Accountants in Australia, Institute of Public Accountants, Association of Taxation and Management Accounting, and the Financial Planning Association.

Accountants develop a range of skills in analysis, presentation and communication of organisational financial information, and find professional positions across areas such as computer auditing, taxation planning, management accounting, treasury, financial consulting and strategic management. This program prepares graduates for employment within these fields and ensures that you graduate with good communication and technical skills. CQUniversity’s accounting program is unique because it is a program in its own right, rather than a specialisation of an existing program. This enables you to gain in-depth knowledge and greater enhance your skill-set of accounting practices.
CQUniversity's Bachelor of Accounting is an excellent preparation for your career in accounting. In addition to helping you develop strong technical skills, our degree will hone your analytic and problem-solving abilities, and help you become an effective communicator. Your studies will have a wide base, including areas such as computing, economics and management, so that you will have the skills you need to work in many different areas of accounting.
In this program you will study compulsory courses focusing on the key principles of accounting, business computing, organisation behaviour, contract law, and financial accounting. You will also study 12 accounting technical specialist courses such as management accounting, financial reporting, auditing and professional practice, business finance, economics, statistics and taxation law. You will also be able to select eight courses from other programs offered by the university. You will also have the option to undertake the financial planning specialisation which will provide you with added skills in this profession. This specialisation is new in 2012.
The Bachelor of Accounting program not only offers students the opportunity to study a degree that is recognised by professional accounting bodies throughout Australia, but also gives you the flexibility to design a program of study that will best meet your individual career aspirations and take advantage of the rapidly changing career opportunities that exist in the modern business environment.

You are required to complete a total of 24 courses including four core courses, 12 core accounting technical specialist courses and eight courses relevant to your chosen specialisation. You may choose to specialise in Financial Planning or undertake the generic accounting program.
Graduates may be eligible for membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA), and the National Institute of Accountants (NIA). However, these organisations accredit each campus individually, so students should check the current status of accreditation for their desired study location. Graduates of this program may also be eligible to join the Association of Taxation and Management Accountants (ATMA) at the Member Level and may be eligible to apply for registration with the Tax Agents Board provided they meet the board’s requirements for practical experience. Graduate who have completed the required courses for the Financial Planning specialisation may also be eligible for membership of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).
