Master of Creative Enterprise (Specialisation)

The Master of Creative Enterprise (Specialisation) provides an award that meets the needs of creative industry professionals, whether in arts management and administration or those seeking to develop their practice as creative artists.

The program aims to:

  • Provide all students with a range of creative arts-based experiences that will enable them to conceptualise, plan, manage, produce and manage effectively within a creative enterprise context, whether this is in arts management and administration or creative arts production;
  • Ensure that theoretical perspectives, creative production skills and/or administration experience are integral to, embedded in, and articulated throughout all courses such that creativity, innovation and enterprise are applied to creative enterprise practices; and
  • Engage students in a range of practices across related areas of the creative enterprise and allied support garnering (funding) activities; and
  • Prepare award students to approach further postgraduate studies.

Arts Administration Specialisation (Sydney, Noosa and Flexible delivery)
As creativity has become a driving force of economic growth, this specialisation seeks to develop creative skills and knowledge for use in the creative industries in a range of creative roles in arts management and administration. The Master of Creative Enterprise (Arts Administration) prepares students for a career in the management and administration of the communication arts by bridging the ‘knowing/doing' gap and skilling students academically and practically to work in creative industries such as:

  • Fine arts
  • Conference and events management
  • Publishing and creative writing
  • Displays and promotions
  • Music
  • Broadcasting and web casting
  • Film and television
  • Fashion, graphic and web design

There is a growing demand for careers in creative enterprises, especially for those who are equipped with critical thinking and creative abilities which the Master of Creative Enterprise (Arts Administration) develops. Creative Practice Specialisation (Noosa, Rockhampton and Flexible delivery)
This specialisation is aimed primarily at creative and performing arts practitioners wishing to extend their capacity to operate in an increasingly interdisciplinary, multi-art form and/or in a creative industries-based professional context. Alongside completing core units in the creative industries, students in this specialisation complete five project courses designing, researching and producing new works of art, or developing new approaches to arts practice in the creative industries, applying new knowledge to their own specialist field/s.
This specialisation is particularly suitable for professionals working in (or those wishing to enter) the creative industries including in

  • creative and professional writing in all genres
  • editing
  • publishing
  • music
  • fine arts
  • museums and galleries curatorship
  • design including web design and multimedia arts
  • theatre
  • creative arts education
  • and a range of other creative arts and creative arts related areas
Students work with the program and course coordinators to develop the project component of this program, which may involve working individually, in collaboration with a creative team and/or work in professional, community and industry locations.
