CQUniversity aims to partner with communities in the Rockhampton, Mackay, Bundaberg, Emerald and Gladstone regions to identify and realize opportunities relevant to each region.
These opportunities are being distilled by representatives of key community sectors, as well as interested members of the general public, during early evening (4.30pm - 7pm) consultation sessions in September, October and December this year.
So far some very promising opportunities and ideas have been identified and community consultation is currently taking place to establish 5 key priorities for each campus.
Specialized community engagement reference groups - with relevant University, industry and community members - will be then formed and tasked with implementing community-identified projects and initiatives. This will happen under the direction of newly-established Regional Engagement Committees.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman has promised buy-in from all relevant sections of the University, in concert with community agencies, to ensure the reference groups remain 'action-orientated'.
