Transition Mathematics + (TM+)

This preparatory course, Transition Mathematics + for Tertiary Studies (TM+), is designed to follow on from a study of introductory mathematical concepts, such as Transition Mathematics 1.  TM+ is complete in itself as a preparatory course for a study of first year tertiary mathematics in business, Bachelor of Learning Management (Mathematics) and biomedical sciences.  The course has been developed to give students introductory knowledge of various mathematics topics including standard deviation, probability, absolute value, inequalities, simultaneous equations, quadratic equations, functions, logarithms, trigonometry, financial mathematics and matrices.

The learning package for TM+ consists of a Course Outline, the Mathematics Learning Centre book Transition Mathematics + Intermedate Mathematics Modules, together with module tests, assessments tests and support from teaching staff by telephone, letter, email or fax.

Candidates are required to provide evidence of sufficient competence in English to undertake this certificate.  As a guide, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TEFOL) score of 550 (computer-based score of 213) or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6 with no individual band score of less than 5, is regarded as being an appropriate minimum level.
