Being a resident of Rockhampton Student Residence provides more opportunities for you to pursue your academic work, make new friends or develop new sporting, hobby and personal interests/skills.

Location

Rockhampton Student Residence is located in the grounds of CQUniversity's Rockhampton campus. An easy five minute walk along well lit paths will get you to University facilities such as faculty buildings, lecture theatres, library and the Central Queensland Community Sports Centre (incorporating a swimming pool, gym and sports stadium).

The Student Residence is also handy to two taverns and a suburban shopping centre. 

Transport

The convenient location of the Rockhampton Student Residence means that private transport is not absolutely necessary. Regular complimentary Rockhampton Student Residencebus services are operated, for all Residents, to major shopping centres and other outings.

For students who do have their own transport, well-lit parking areas are available for residents' cars. A secure bicycle shed is also available at the main shed.

Communications

Electronic Signage is the form of communication, and is situated in every building.

The Rockhampton Student Residence office handles mail distribution and dispatch as well as local postage stamp sales. Complimentary incoming and discounted outgoing fax services are also available at the office.

Complimentary access to daily newspapers is available in the Dining Hall during Terms 1 & 2. 

Health

All residents are covered by ambulance cover whilst on campus and on official CQUniversity Student Residence outings.

On most occasions there are always mature experienced staff on hand to assist in case of accident or ill health. Most of the live-in staff hold first aid certificates.

College Awards

Each year the CQUniversity Student Residences and CQUniversity Faculties jointly sponsor and present awards in recognition of academic achievement.  The CQUniversity Student Residences presents an award for outstanding academic achievement and also offers four CQUniversity Student Residences Scholarships to the value of $1000 each per year in recognition of academic achievement, community service and leadership by Residents during their residency.

Housekeeping / Grounds

Living in Rockhampton Student Residence is estimated to save residents 12 to 15 hours per week by not having to attend to cooking, cleaning, shopping and travelling. With all your meals provided, no mowing or tidying of the yards, no cleaning of your room and bathrooms, you have a lot more available time to pursue your academic work, make new friends and develop new sporting or hobby interests.

Residents' rooms, communal areas and bathrooms are cleaned regularly.

The well maintained park-like grounds throughout Rockhampton Student Residence are well lit for safety and the paths connect all buildings in the Residence with the University.

CQUniversity Student Residences strive to create a safe and friendly environment for resident student residents by recognising that respect for all residents is the foundation upon which all policies and procedures are developed. We are committed to promoting and to protecting the security, safety and wellbeing of the students under our protection.

Student residents under the care of CQUniversity Student Residences should be provided with the knowledge and information they require to feel empowered to take action in the event of abuse or neglect.  This will be achieved through the use of written policies and procedures, including information and training for all staff involved. 

CQUniversity Student Residences' Risk Management Child Protection Policy documents provisions to protect children from harm encompassing:

CQUniversity Student Residences' Risk Management Child Protection Policy is available to current or potential residents and / or their parents, upon request from the Rockhampton Student Residences' Administration Office.
