In addition to the research interests of individual staff, CQUniversity supports the following research centres at Gladstone campus:
Process Engineering & Light Metals provides an advanced Research and Development facility to service the needs of industries in the Central Queensland Region. PELM has a team of internationally respected research personnel, advanced analytical and experimental facilities and a series of multifunction "cell' laboratories.
In addition to the staff based at Gladstone, PELM draws on the existing research strengths of academics throughout the whole of CQUniversity and partner organisations.
The Centre for Environmental Management is about providing knowledge and skills to achieve environmentally sustainable development in the dry tropics. It has six main fields of endeavour - marine, coastal, terrestrial and freshwater ecology, environmental resource economics, ecotoxicology & some associated social studies.
The focus is on issues associated with sustainable regional development, accounting for the costs of environmental impact, biodiversity management, rehabilitation success, ecosystem functional indicators of environmental performance and integrated regional monitoring.
